The AAMC has decided not to renew or expand the SVI (Standardized Video Interview) pilot in emergency medicine for the ERAS 2021 application cycle. The Residency Explorer is a new tool developed in a joint effort from a number of organizations including the AAMC, AACOM, AMA, NBME and NRMP that was launched in June 2019 and will be available for use until the end of November 2019. Understanding the challenges faced by medical students and residency programs in the residency application process, the Association of American Medical Colleges, National Resident Matching Program, USMLE Program, and American Medical Association have teamed up to develop Residency Explorer, a tool to help students investigate programs in their specialty of interest.
